Visiting a restaurant is hit or miss even if you did a lot of research. We want to share all the food we tried and enjoyed. Most importantly, we’d love to go back when we get a chance to visit Amsterdam again in the future.
SLA (Salad Shop) ?
If you are traveling for a week or longer, you will start craving something a little healthier. We loved the delicious salad from SLA. We loved their salad so much that we visited them twice while we were in Amsterdam. Their salad was so yummy, we forgot we were eating salad!
Appeltaart (Apple Pie) at Winkel 43 ?
Ah… sitting outside and getting their heavenly apple pie with a cup of coffee was a real treat! Their apple pie is a must-try at Winkel 43. The portion is big and we shared one but I’m sure I could finish one by myself. It’s a must-try. This place is famous and gets busy. We got a seat right away but you might want to get there early.
The Pancake Bakery ?
We enjoyed breakfast there. Their pancake is like a big crepe. They have a sweet and savory filling. We ordered a banana Nutella pancake, a bacon and cheese pancake, and an omelet plate. It was a lot of food for us but we’re glad we tried them all. (Another thing we could’ve ordered was mini pancakes called Poffertjes.)
Manneken Pis Damrak ?
This was Tenzin’s favorite! We enjoyed their fries. They have many sauces to choose from. Tenzin chose peanut sauce and truffle sauce. Their fries are crispy on the outside but soft on the inside.
Stubbe’s Haring ?
Stubbe’s Haring is a no-frills fish store where you can try their famous Raw Haring and Kibbeling (Deep Fried Cod). They have Raw Haring on a hot dog bun, but we decided to go without it. Tenzin didn’t like Raw Haring much but I liked it. It goes well with onions and pickles. Kibbeling was so yummy. It tastes like deep-fried cod with tartar sauce. We somehow didn’t take a picture, but you can watch our Youtube video.
Katsu Coffeeshop. ?
We were lucky to have found this place. Tenzin was determined to visit a coffee shop when we visited Amsterdam. We got super high of something called “super lemonade”. There were a lot of people chilling and smoking there. The lady at the counter was very nice and gave us tips on how much we should smoke in one sitting.
Van Stapele Koekmakerij (Cookie Shop) ?
If you love warm gooey cookies, this is your place. They have freshly made cookies filled with white chocolate. We were surprised that the cookie was still warm. There were lines but it moved quickly.
Melly’s StroopWafels ?
I originally wanted to visit Rudi’s Original Stroopwafels Albert Cuyp Markt Amsterdam but they were closed the day we were in Amsterdam. I almost didn’t get fresh stroopwafel, but I am glad I did. I found Melly’s StroopWafels. It was big and gooey. It tasted way better than the ones you can buy at a grocery store.
These were the foods we loved in Amsterdam. We would love to visit again one day! What is your favorite food in Amsterdam? Feel free to comment below. We’d love to visit new places!

Hello Tiyo, Thank you for your comment!
We visited Amsterdam, Belgium, Grindelwald, and Zermatt.
We spent 3 days in Amsterdam, 2 days in Belgium, and 1 week in Switzerland.
We only got to visit those major cities this time, but it was very fun.
